Honors Concert and Art Exhibition
The mission of the Honors events is to provide dedicated young artists in the public schools with a professionally produced Concert, Performance, and Visual Art Exhibition.
Hundreds of the best artists, vocalists, and musicians from Saint Paul Public Schools showcase their skills and talents as part of the Annual Honors Concert, Performance Art and Art Exhibition. Ordway Center hosts and partners with Saint Paul Public Schools to produce the Honors Concert and Performance Art event on their main stage.
The College of Visual Arts hosts the Honors Art Exhibition featuring the visual artists’ creations selected from original paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and other works submitted by students every spring.

2010 Conductors:
Choir: Dr. Eugene Rogers
Dr. Rogers is the Director of Choral Activities at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and his Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Dr. Rogers is a passionate conductor and teacher whose spirited performances frequently include a wide variety of musical styles and genres. He has extensive experience working with choirs of all ages and levels of ability.
Some of his past appointments include the Boys Choir of Harlem, the University of Michigan, Waubonsie and Valley High School in Aurora, Illinois. As a result of his teaching and ground breaking achievements as founder and director of Waubonsie Valley High School's first multi-cultural ensemble, the Unity Chorus, Dr. Rogers was named "Most Influential Educator" in 2000 and 2001.
As a singer, Dr. Rogers has performed with the World Youth Choir, the Portland Symphonic Choir, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra Chorale and the May Festival Chorus in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Orchestra: Ms. Claudette Laureano
Ms. Laureano's musical training began in the public schools of New York City. She is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and became a teacher and free-lance violinist in Seattle, Washington before coming to the Twin Cities in 1981.
In 1982 Claudette was hired to begin a string program at the Breck School where she remained until 1988. In that same year Claudette, along with her husband Manny, were hired as co-music directors of the Minnesota Youth Symphonies, which is recognized as one of the leading youth orchestra programs in the United States. They are presently celebrating their twentieth season at MYS.
Over the years, Claudette has guest conducted at various conferences and festivals in the Twin Cities. Some of these guest appearances include the Northwest Suburban Conference Music Festival, the National Suzuki Conference, the Minnesota All-State Junior High School League Honors Orchestra, and for the ten year, the Saint Paul Public Schools and Ordway Center’s Honors Orchestra.
In the autumn of 2003, Claudette resumed her position as String Director of Breck School where she continues to enjoy working with the students on a daily basis.
