Development Event Intern

REPORTS TO. Associate Director of Development Events
STATUS. Part-time, temporary, volunteer
HOURS. 20-25 hours per week, with specific days and hours to be arranged.
ASSIGNMENT. January 2010 – July 2010.
POSTING DATE. November 2009.
Job Purpose
The Development Event Intern assists the Development Department with various events and projects, as well as providing some general assistance to the Ordway Circle of Stars (OCOS) Board – including clerical duties and data entry. This Intern also acts as a representative of Ordway Center at contributor events.
Major Job Responsibilities
1. Provide office and logistical support for all Development Events (includes invitation work, RSVP collection, event planning support and staffing the events (Dates TBA).
2. Provide general event support to the Ordway Circle of Stars Board on any events, including the ARTcontest Artist Reception, their booth at the Flint Hills International Children’s Festival and beginning prep work on their Winter Gala (including administrative support on corporate solicitations and Save the Date mailing).
3. Assist in the streamlining of event systems for the Development Department.
4. Provide general office support for the Ordway Circle of Stars Board (includes updating and maintaining the filing system, word processing correspondence and preparing mailings).
5. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION. High school diploma required. Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor or graduate degree with a major or related course work in arts administration, theatre, business, fundraising or related field.
EXPERIENCE. Prior paid or volunteer clerical or administrative support experience in a non-profit, education or cultural environment a plus.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY. Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, excellent phone manner and communication skills, ability to work well under pressure and to deadline. Computer aptitude required, with Microsoft Office experience preferred. Familiarity with Audience View software helpful. A flexible team-worker. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED. Computers, printers, telephone, calculator and other general office equipment.
