What is the ARTcontest? Children from across Minnesota are invited to submit original artwork for the 2010 Flint Hills International Children’s Festival ARTcontest. One entry per grade level will be selected for feature on the 2010 Festival Poster and receive a modest cash prize and recognition at a reception honoring young artists.
What does the theme mean? Celebrating Community: Sharing Cultures, Building Friendships
The 2010 ARTcontest theme honors the 10th Anniversary of the Flint Hills International Children’s Festival.
- A community can be any group of people that are a part of your life: your school community, a church community, your friends, neighbors, a sports team, an online social network, etc. How can you represent your community visually?
- What is your culture? What kinds of traditions does your family or community participate in?
- Friendship is a relationship colored by affection, trust, respect, discovery, and understanding. What do we do with our friends? We feel close to our friends … we find something in common with them – even if we are very different.
- Friendships can be between individuals your own age, family members, community members, but you can also be friends with animals, objects, the earth, and your imagination’s creations.
