Luminaria Society: Planned Giving

The Luminaria Society honors the caring individuals who provide for Ordway in their estate plans. These planned gifts help ensure the future of Ordway by building its permanent endowment fund. The Luminaria Society is an important contributor to Ordway’s future programming and fiscal stability. Your generosity now will become a source of lasting delight for future generations of children and lovers of theater, dance, and music as they gather at Ordway.

Planned gifts can also provide attractive benefits to donors in the form of tax savings and future income and can be just as beneficial for younger donors and those of more modest means. Luminaria Society members are also invited to special events throughout the years, and are acknowledged in Ordway programs and other publications, unless anonymity is requested.

There are two primary types of planned gifts:

  • Charitable Bequests - The most common planned gift is a simple bequest. It can be as simple as including a paragraph in your Will making a gift to Ordway. You can make your charitable bequest "contingent" so that you can be sure that your family is taken care of before your gift to Ordway is made. In addition, charitable bequests can dramatically reduce your estate taxes.
  • Life Income Gifts - These versatile planned gifts can offer many financial and tax advantages. A life income gift can allow you to receive an income as a result of making a charitable gift to Ordway today. In addition, depending upon which plan you choose, you may also be entitled to income and capital gains tax savings.

These are only two of the many planned giving options from which you can choose. Before you make any decisions about charitable giving, consult with your own advisors to make certain you choose a plan that best suits your unique situation. If you need to speak to an advisor, contact Ordway. Several advisors are available to speak to those who are interested in supporting Ordway. For more information on planned giving, please contact Peggie Van Wychen, Director of Development at 651-282-3002 or pvanwychen@ordway.org.
