Music and Movement Series, Ordway Concert Hall

Approximate Run-time: 50-60 minutes

Black Violin is the exhilarating violin/viola hip-hop duo of classically trained musicians Kevin “Kev Marcus” Sylvester and violist Wil “Wil B.” Baptiste. The two met in high school orchestra where they began blending the classical music they were taught during the day with the hip-hop they were listening to at night. They are still playing genre-bending music today, radically fusing hip-hop and pop with classical to create a kaleidoscope of sounds uniquely their own. The group is on a perception-changing, stereotype-shattering mission with their unique take on classical music.
