Come play at the Ordway!
The tradition of the Flint Hills International Children’s Festival is getting a makeover! As families grow, we want the annual experience of the Festival to grow with them. That’s why we are reimagining what it means for families to ‘Play at the Ordway’ for this year’s celebration of imagination and fun. Expect outdoor dance parties; giant, inflatable light-up sculptures; and interactive art-making for the whole family!
Moon Mouse: A Space Odyssey
Lightwire Theater is back by popular demand presenting their unique theater experience featuring music, movement, and larger-than-life electroluminescent characters that light up the stage! Join Marvin the mouse in a cosmic adventure about celebrating differences.
Compagnia T.P.O. presents Panda’s Home
Our smallest Festival-goers will embark on an immersive theater experience that follows a panda on an imaginary journey through China’s stories, traditions, and culture. Presented by Compagnia TPO (Italy) in co-production with China’s TONG Production and Teatro Metastasio Di Prato.
Kindie music group Moona Luna fuses Mexican Folk, Cumbia, American pop, and more, creating a unique sound that will have students dancing in the aisles and singing along – in English and Spanish! The four-member band features the accordion, guitar, bass, and percussion.
Arch8 bring a unique performance inspired by Tetris the videogame. Physical and interactive, this dance explores how we connect with one another. It’s for the kids who can’t sit still, the ones who like to climb the walls, and those who can imagine farther than they can see.
Intrude by Amanda Parer
Huge inflatable white rabbits, illuminated in stark white light, have been invading festivals around the world. The seven-meter-high bunnies will be be quite at home in their new patch in Downtown Saint Paul!
Free Festivities & Activities, Family-Friendly Performances, Food Trucks, and More!
This year at the Festival, enchanting indoor performances tell the stories of mice rocketing to outer space, an adorable panda bear and her home, dancers that become the game Tetris on stage—and then invite you to join them!—and musicians that create magical moments with danceable tunes in Spanish and English. With free art-filled experiences outdoors, tickets to indoor shows at just $8 a seat, and select Pay What You Can performances on Saturday afternoon (limited availability, day of performance only), the Festival is designed for you to come bring the whole family and experience it all.
