Rohan Preston, Star Tribune 11/11/14
The Star Tribune released its 2014 holiday arts preview, and arts reporter Rohan Preston chose the Ordway’s A Christmas Story, the Musical as his top pick of the season.
A Christmas Story, the Musical
Opens Nov. 29: As soon as he heard about the musical stage adaptation of the popular movie “A Christmas Story,” Ordway Center artistic director James Rocco had his eye on the show, which was staged in New York the past two holidays. Now he gets a chance to present this tale of a boy who desires nothing more than a BB gun for Christmas. The stars of the production include Jake Goodman as Ralphie, Billie Wildrick as Mother, James Ciccarelle as Randy, Dieter Bierbrauer as the Old Man and Erin Schwab as Miss Shields, along with such local stars as Austene Van, Kersten Rodau, Michael Gruber, Julianne Mundale, Tony Vierling and Linda Talcott Lee. The show will also feature two rescue dogs, Oliver and Argyle. (Nov. 29-Dec. 28. $36-$110. Ordway Center, 5th and Washington Sts., St. Paul. 651-224-4222, www.ordway.org.)
