Ordway Announces 2015-2016 Season

The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts has unveiled its 2015-2016 season. The 30th anniversary season includes a wide variety of Broadway musicals, world music concerts, dance performances and Broadway Songbook® offerings which reflect the Ordway’s mission of bringing the finest performing arts to Saint Paul.
Subscription packages are now on sale for the Ordway 2015-2016 season, with single tickets going on sale on August 23, 2015.

The Pirates of Penzance

A band of swashbuckling pirates sets hearts aflutter in this classic hilarious farce, reimagined for modern audiences. With all new orchestrations, this production explodes across the stage with damsels in distress, a sexy pirate king, a delightfully dotty Major-General and Dudley Do-Rite-esque Canadian Mounties. It’s Gilbert & Sullivan meets Spamalot.
Broadway Songbook®: The 70s Songbook

A pop-rock songbook full of 1970s hits created by singer-songwriters who later joined the ranks of Broadway greats. With songs by Elton John, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Carole King and more.

This holiday season, the Ordway is alive with the sounds of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s beloved musical classic, The Sound of Music. Full of such iconic songs as “My Favorite Things,” “Do Re Mi” and “Edelweiss,” the timeless story of Maria and the musical Von Trapp family is a family holiday event you won’t want to miss.
A Chorus Line

This “singular sensation” follows 17 dancers as they vie for the opportunity of a lifetime. Based on true stories and featuring classic songs like “One,” “I Hope I Get It” and “What I Did For Love,” A Chorus Line took home nine Tony Awards, seven Drama Desk Awards, the New York Critics’ Circle Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Explore the stories and songs behind the duo whose provocative razzle-dazzle has been lighting up Broadway for 50 years. John Kander and Fred Ebb wrote Cabaret, Chicago and some of Frank Sinatra’s and Liza Minnelli’s greatest hits, including “Maybe This Time” and “New York, New York.”
