National Lutheran Choir: Holy Spirit Mass – World Premiere

Ordway Events & Partnerships, Ordway Concert Hall

Approximate Run-time: 90 minutes with a 20-minute intermission

The National Lutheran Choir will premiere a new work for chorus and strings written by Norwegian Composer Kim André Arnesen. Commissioned for the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, the piece was created with the intention of celebrating the common ground shared by all people of God, as well as the progress that Catholics and Lutherans have made in overcoming the obstacles that once divided them.

Kim AndrĂ© Arneson (b. 1980) is a one of the most frequently performed classical composers from Norway today. He was educated at the Music Conservatory in Trondheim and is an elected member of the Norwegian Composers Society. Focusing on choral composition, Arnesen’s Requiem received a U.S. premiere at Carnegie Hall this January. Arnesen will have premiers at the Oregon Bach Festival and the Texas American Choral Directors Association conference in 2017.

The National Lutheran Choir, under the direction of Dr. David Cherwien, is rooted in its mission to strengthen, renew and preserve the heritage of sacred choral music through the highest standards of performance and literature. Experience more at
