Oratorio Society of Minnesota presents The Greatest Generation

Ordway Events & Partnerships, Ordway Concert Hall

“This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny.” – Franklin Delano Roosevelt

The Oratorio Society of Minnesota has partnered with composer Roger Ames (known to Nautilus Music Theatre audiences) and writers Elizabeth Bassine and Dan Kehde to create a multimedia evening-length production for actors, chorus, orchestra, and film entitled The Greatest Generation.

This “American oratorio” will focus on the U.S. involvement in World War II, the impact on the lives of those who served and those who supported them, and the music that sustained the country during this pivotal time in American and world history. Included will be real-life stories of these Americans and their sacrifice, struggle and everyday heroism.

Following the premiere, we will make the performance material available to high schools and colleges to serve as an artistic and historical resource to teach future generations about a time, a nation, and the music of “. . . these ordinary people whose lives were laced with the markings of greatness.” (Tom Brokaw)
