Apply for GreenRoom fellowship

This application is a 3-stage process which includes a written artistic statement, a skills review video submission, and an interview. After the written artistic statement, you will be notified via email if you have moved on to the additional stages of the process. Information has been included for the skills review video and the interview to help you plan ahead.

To ensure your application is eligible and will be considered, carefully review and and adhere to the requirements (i.e. do not go under or over stated requirements).

Notice about financial obligation

All payments made to fellows will be reported on a 1099-MISC and may be subject to tax. Fellows should consult with their tax advisor.

COVID Statement

Fellows will follow the same COVID-19 protocols as our production team. These protocols continue to be monitored for reevaluation and are subject to change.

Skills review

Due April 28, 2024 by 11:59 PM CST

You will be notified via email by April 22 if you have moved forward to this stage in the application process. A Dropbox link for submissions will be provided in the email.

The skills review video is to help us see how we can best help you in this fellowship. So do your best and be yourself!

Video instructions

Video submission should be one video including the three components listed below. If more than one video is submitted, the application will be marked ineligible and will not proceed in the process. Video should be at least 1:30 minutes, and no longer than 2:00 minutes.

In your video submission, please demonstrate all of the following:
  • Sing 30 seconds of your favorite song, or sing "Happy Birthday" twice (without music)

  • Speak 10–12 lines from your favorite poem/book/monologue, or speak the excerpt of "Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Silverstein (included in 'Submission materials' section)

  • Perform eight counts of eight of your own dancing/movement, or the choreography in the example choreography video (included in 'Submission materials' section) (with or without music)

Interview

Conducted May 13–14, 2024

This interview helps us get to know you better and gives you a chance to have a conversation with the faculty! You will be notified via email by May 6 if you are requested for an interview.

The interviews will take place via Zoom during the following intervals of time:

  • May 13 from 5:00–8:00 PM CST

  • May 14 from 5:00–8:00 PM CST

We invite applicants to share any accommodations support requests at any point during the application and interview process.
