Cantus Celebrates 25 Seasons

Ordway Events & Partnerships, Ordway Concert Hall

EVENT POSTPONED:

Dear friends of Cantus:
It is with great sadness we must postpone the 25th anniversary concert and gala, which had been scheduled for May 3. As disappointing as this is, we simply could not press ahead as planned, given the uncertainty of the COVID-19 crisis.
In the coming weeks, we will work with our partners to reschedule the event, and I’ll look forward to sharing information with you on transferring your tickets and other logistics as it becomes available. In the meantime, we’re also planning to share new content online to offer music, as best we’re able, during this time of great uncertainty.
As a friend of Cantus, you can appreciate the incredible strain that this postponement places on our organization, one of only two vocal chamber ensembles in the nation that employs its artists as full-time professionals. As a nonprofit, the vast majority of our resources are invested directly and immediately into Cantus’ artistic and educational mission, leaving little “padding” for such dramatic contingencies as this.
The Cantus offices will close this week, and it will be difficult to respond to phone inquiries. However, if you have questions about the concert and gala, please write to info@cantussings.org, and we will make every effort to respond promptly. If you purchased a concert-only ticket, you may also contact the Ordway box office at weborders@ordway.org.
Finally, a moment of sincere thanks: that Cantus has thrived for a quarter century is the extraordinary result of the talent and vision of so many artists and administrators, as well as the extraordinary generosity of those who have invested in the organization’s mission over the years. We look forward to a brighter day when we can gather again and celebrate all that we’ve created together for over 25 years.
Please stay healthy, and we hope to see you again soon.
With so much gratitude,
Joe Heitz
Executive Director, Cantus

Since Cantus’ founding by a group of ambitious undergraduates at St. Olaf College, the ensemble has been comprised of and shaped by the talents of more than 40 professional singers. Join us for this special 25th anniversary celebration as we welcome to feature the singers of Cantus past and present, along with the Viking Chorus of St. Olaf College and students representing the Cantus’ award-winning High School Residency program.
