Native Intergenerational Gathering

Community Events & Programs

All Nations Indian Church
1515 E. 23rd St.
Minneapolis, MN 55404

Elders, youth, and the larger Native community are invited to attend a Native Intergenerational Gathering at All Nations Indian Church along the American Indian Cultural Corridor in Minneapolis.

Please join choreographer Rosy Simas (Seneca) and her Weave dance project creative team, and Sharon M. Day (Ojibwe) of the Indigenous Peoples Task Force and her Ikidowin Youth Theater Ensemble, for a fun, free, informal gathering filled with performance, food, friendship, and good conversation.

Ikidowin Youth Theater Ensemble performers will share aspects of We Do It For the Water, a play written by Sharon M. Day, that weaves stories of Indigenous struggles to protect our water, beginning with saving Camp Cold Water Spring, the Mother Earth Water Walks, the Nibi Walks, and The North Dakota Access Pipeline. The water walkers and water protectors presented a non-violent message that united Native people and non-Native environmentalists. This project will continue the awareness of Indigenous rights and the capacity of the individual to take action for the environment.

Rosy Simas Danse performers will be sharing a short improvisation from Weave, a dance project drawn from the interwoven and interdependent nature of our world. Individual, embodied stories are woven together and framed through a Native feminist lens, in a performance that weaves dance, moving images, and quadraphonic sound. Other members of the Weave creative team, including the choreographer, composer, lighting designer, and writers will also be present. All members of the team look forward to talking with you and connecting with the Twin Cities Native community.

This gathering is a part of Rosy Simas’ Weave.
