TaikoArts Midwest presents Daichi No Kai with Ensō Daiko
TaikoArts Midwest presents the first US tour of Daichi No Kai from Kobe, Japan, led by Yuichi Kimura.
Daichi No Kai brings traditional taiko drumming, direct from Japan. They are known for their high energy and fast rhythms.
They will play their signature piece, “Daichi,” written as a requiem tribute for the survivors of the Great Hanshin earthquake of 1995. Kimura believes in the power of taiko to give courage to the hearts of people in order to help them rise up from disaster and tragedy. Carrying their hopes and dreams, this belief has now brought him to his 25th year of performing.
Get ready for some big drums, fast rhythms, and heart pounding fun!
Local taiko favorites Ensō Daiko will join them onstage to make this a truly special event!
The DAICHI NO KAI tour is made possible by the JAPAN Foundation, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and St. Paul Cultural Star. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. This presentation is also supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Crane Group.
