In anticipation of the performance of Weave created by Minnesota choreographer Rosy Simas (Seneca, Heron Clan) at the Ordway, please join us and our collaborators on Thursday, June 28, from 12:00-1:00pm at The O’Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University. This open rehearsal is part of the residency and a series of events June 18–30, 2018 at The O’Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University. Learn more about upcoming Weave residency engagement activities.

An open rehearsal is an opportunity for the community to witness and discuss Simas’ movement practice based on intention and attention. Over time the practice will become a dance work to be shared with audiences in St. Paul, Maui, Washington D.C., Oahu, Philadelphia, Birmingham and the Seneca Allegany territory.  Watch how artists create their work. What do they discuss?  How does movement influence an idea? What does collaboration look like? It’s an observation experience, letting artists work without interruption, with time at the end for questions and discussion.

Additional Information

Weave is being created in residencies at The Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts (Minneapolis), McKnight Fellowships Residency at MANCC (Tallahassee), The O’Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University (St. Paul), and at the Ordway (St. Paul).

This residency allows artists to gather everyday and work on the concept of the work and transform ideas into movement. It provides time and space for artists to collaborate together, share ideas, agree, disagree, and add elements of sound and lights to the work.

Rosy Simas Danse presents Weave as part of Ordway’s Music & Movement series on Saturday, January 12, 2019 7:30 PM at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.  For tickets, call 651.224.4222 | TTY 651.282.3100 or visit
