Charles Lloyd is an international treasure.
Voted DownBeat magazine’s Jazzman of the Year in 1967, Charles Lloyd was again voted Artist of the Year in 2023, and in 2024 he was honored with a rare DownBeat critic’s poll quadruple crown; Hall of Fame, Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Tenor Saxophonist of the Year.
Following a year marked by accolades and lifetime achievement awards, the 86-year-old master released his eleventh Blue Note album in March 2024, The Sky Will Still Be There Tomorrow. It stands as one of the most significant recordings of his career. With threads of gospel and blues, spiritual power, and pristine beauty, the album has received critical acclaim. And the accolades keep coming. This fall, he was given yet another international award - this one in the Netherlands. His new album received the Edison Award for best international album.
