Revitalizing jazz dance in the Twin Cities area!

— Dance Magazine
A vibrant collection of favorite repertoire and dancer-created new works

Rhythmically Speaking—the Twin Cities' premiere concert jazz dance company—has a unique groove, interaction, and improvisation-driven approach that honors the roots of the form while innovating it forward that is lauded locally, nationally and internationally. They make their Ordway premiere with Reppin’: Past Moves, New Grooves, a collection of favorite repertoire and new works created by company dancers that represent their signature approach to jazz dance. The show, featuring several 5–15 minute dances, showcases various approaches to dance that are related to jazz, including tap and improvisation, and a short dance film. Music-driven and joyful, Rhythmically Speaking's performances are accessible and enjoyable, even for dance newbies! Repertoire works on the show include "Confronting Consonance" by RS Artistic and Executive Director Erinn Liebhard; a work exploring how we often get in our own way of finding our common ground, "Groove: A Communal Love" by 2023 visiting artist Carlos R.A. Jones (NY), which celebrates giving over to groove and finding joy in community; and "BASSline" by 2022 visiting artist Kathleen Doherty (Halifax, Canada), illuminating the body's relationship to prominent bass lines within music. RS company members creating new works include Nieya Amezquita, Jake Nehrbass and Betsy Schaefer Roob, and A/ED Liebhard will also be creating a new screendance for the show.

Come experience vibrant dance that will inspire and connect you to yourself, others and the moment at Reppin': Past Moves, New Grooves!
