A CAAM Chinese Dance Theater performance
A visually stunning production, Love in the Rainforest brings the vibrant culture of Yunnan to life. There is nothing quite like the elegance of the Dai peacock dance to capture a student audience's imagination and transport them to a world of wonder.
The story follows a young man named Qing Shan who, lost in a tropical rainstorm, stumbles into a hidden sanctuary. There, he beholds the ethereal Bai Ling, a magnificent white peacock. When a dark Sorcerer threatens their meeting, the Forest Spirit intervenes, recognizing Qing Shan’s pure heart and transforming him into a peacock to join the flock forever.
As their new life unfolds, the stage turns to a vibrant wildlife, featuring the playful monkeys and squirrels alongside the fluttering magpies and sparrows. Inspired by the rich traditions of the Dai people, this drama celebrates the sacred bond between all living things and the beautiful harmony of the emerald wild.
