Minnesota Book Awards Ceremony

Ordway Events & Partnerships, Ordway Concert Hall

The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library is disappointed to share with you that we have decided to cancel the 2020 Minnesota Book Awards Ceremony. The Friends team has been closely monitoring the latest recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Minnesota Department of Health, and while we do not make this decision lightly, the health of our community is our most important consideration.

The Friends remains committed to lifting up the voices of Minnesota authors and to celebrating the best in local literature. The in-person gathering may be canceled, but our team is working on other creative ideas to announce this year’s winners on the Ceremony’s scheduled date of April 28. Watch The Friends’ website and Facebook page for updates as our announcement plans come together. We know that stories can bring us together – even virtually – and appreciate your patience as we determine the best way to (remotely) connect readers and writers through the 32nd annual Minnesota Book Awards.

Celebrate the state’s best books at the 32nd annual Minnesota Book Awards Ceremony, sponsored by Education Minnesota. Readers, writers, and book-lovers from all over Minnesota gather together for one incredible evening to honor stories of Minnesotans that connect us all.

About the Minnesota Book Awards

Produced by The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, The Minnesota Book Awards is a year-long program that connects readers and writers throughout Minnesota with the stories of our neighbors.

The process begins in the fall with book submissions and continues through winter with two rounds of judging. Winners are announced at the annual Minnesota Book Awards Ceremony each spring. Woven throughout the season are various activities that promote the authors and connect the world of Minnesota books—writers, artists, illustrators, publishers, editors, and more—to readers throughout the state.
