The Song Poet Live
September 22, 2019 at 6:00 PM
Thanks to the Knight Opportunity Fund, the Ordway hosts an exclusive performance of traditional Hmong song poetry by Sally Award winner Bee Yang and a reading by his daughter and award-winning writer Kao Kalia Yang. The evening will center on The Song Poet, winner of the 2017 MN Book Award in Creative Nonfiction/Memoir, finalists for: the National Book Critics Circle Award, PEN USA Literary Award, the Chautauqua Prize, the Midwest Independent Booksellers Award, and the Dayton’s Literary Peace Prize. This collaborative performance will be the first of its kind for the Minnesota Ordway, and speak powerfully to the diversity of artists in Minnesota.
This performance is made possible in part by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
